Education

AboitizLand is a firm believer of making education available and affordable for all. Thus, the company’s program are geared towards this advocacy. The company closely collaborates with DepEd and LGUs for programs to meet the needs of the various schools located in our host barangays.

Some of the programs for Education are as follow:

For infrastructure needs of schools, AboitizLand, Inc. has already donated nineteen (19) preparatory classrooms. For this year 2016, 4 more classrooms with be donated here in Cebu and in Batangas. Most of these donations are in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation,  AGAPP Foundation, National Bookstore and Uratex.

AboitizLand shouldered the cost of construction, AGAPP for the building design, National Bookstore for the books while Uratex for tables and chairs. The school beneficiaries are public elementary schools in our host barangays such as  Tawason, Gabi, Mabolo, San Isidro, San Vicente, Yati and Cabadiagan, all in Cebu Province as well as in Brgys Lipa and Malvar in Batangas.

Seven (7) library kits with reference books and cabinets were provided to 7 public elementary schools in Talisay City, Mandaue City and Municipality of Cordova.

Employees’ involvement is clearly manifested in helping the educational needs of the elementary students.

For six (6) years and still an on-going project, the team members conduct an enhanced learning sessions to Grade 6 students of Don Calixto C. Yongco Elem School. These kids enjoy a different kind of learning experience in various subjects.

These are: math, english, science, group dynamics, social studies and other special lessons. Team members assigned in different subjects take turns to teach the class every Friday from 3pm to 5pm. This project coined “You too can be a HERO” aims to encourage the kids to do well in their classes to become modern heroes.

It also gives AboitizLand employees the privilege in bringing out the heroes in them thru dedicating their time and talent in teaching. For this year 2016, almost 360 students have already become beneficiaries of the HERO Project. And we are continuously ensuring that many more students will be part of this project.

Another employee-initiated project is the Chess Clinic and Tournament handled by the AboitizLand Chess Club Members. For five (5) years, the Chess Club has taught 870 students coming from 16 various public elementary schools.

It has shared the value of learning the game and the rigors of chess. Each participating school selects 30 kids to attend the chess clinic for 4 consecutive Saturdays. At the end of the chess clinic, the top 12 of each school competes with other schools for the Kiddie Inter-school Chess Tournament.

The program has helped the participating schools to field chess players for school competition. Many of the schools with players got the top prize in their respective category.
